Walk with blind and visually impaired people
Walking with blind and visually impaired people is a traditional action of our Rotaract Club Belgrade Dedinje. We also joined this activity this year and we walked with blind and visually impaired people through Knez Mihailova street and Kalemegdan. We look forward to successful cooperation in the future and we are eagerly awaiting the donors evening where the funds for the school for blind and visually impaired people will be collected, which is planned for the middle of June (detailed information will be available through our site soon).
The aim of this action is to raise the awareness of the blind and the visually impaired, by ensuring that the participants will be able to find out all the difficulties that the blind and visually impaired are experiencing daily and experience it from their point of view.
Awareness-raising is necessary, bearing in mind the problems related not only to the movement of blind and visually impaired persons, such as the lack of relief paths for movement, the lack of sound signalization in traffic, but also the lack of access to public institutions, the lack of information available in the Braille letter within the same institutions, the problem of the high prices of the developed technological equipment that can enable these people to function more easily in their lives. This is an opportunity to do something for them!
In addition to the Association of the Blind of Serbia, The Belgrade Blind Organization, School Veljko Ramadanovic for Vulnerable Students, the City of Belgrade and the Youth Office of the City of Belgrade, the action was supported by other Rotaract clubs that organized a similar activity in their communities. We especially thank Rotaract Clubs: Belgrade Metropolitan, Belgrade Cukarica, Belgrade Dunav, Belgrade Sava, Belgrade Skadarlija, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Pancevo, Zrenjanin, Pirot and Budva, which give great contribution for raising awareness about the problems of the blind and the visually impaired.
