One cold evening, 23 December 2008 at restaurant “The Lodge“, Obilicev Venac, Belgrade, members of the initiative group of RC Belgrade Dedinje had gathered to form a new club. The meeting was attended by the founders of our club: Dragoslav Andric, Predrag Djordjevic, Slobodan Stankov and Nenad Vukasović. The founders were guided by the objectives of Rotary International, a constant and a priority to increase the number of members and clubs, as well as to increase the number of women in RI.
Our previous club, Rotary Club Belgrade has agreed to be our sponsor club, Radosav Mitrovis was submitted as experienced Rotarian who represented DG Panagiotis Theodoropoulos. The above-mentioned members of the initiative group, by the total years of service in Rotary more than 60 years, accepted the not easy task of establishing a new club.
From the beginning, the club has accepted the objectives of RI, spending time in positive atmosphere among Club members and selfless service (Service Above Self) in the local and wider community.
Constituent Assembly of the club was held on 22 January 2009. At the Assembly, Predrag Djordjevic was elect as first President of the Club, the incoming President was Slobodan Jankovic, Vice Presidents were Dragoslav Andric and Slobodan Stankov, and Secretary of the Club become Nenad Vukasović.
From the first days, particular attention was focused to our new members (to inform them about all aspects of life and work in Rotary). We formed all needed committees, also establish contacts with other clubs in our district. We proudly assumed the obligations arising out of the RI Constitution, the Statute and the Rules of the work of our club, plans and objectives of our Rotary District for the first year of the Club for 2009/2010.
Charter was adopted by the RI on June 5, 2009. This date is recorded as the date of establishment of the Club, the date when we became part of a large “Rotarian” family, which was founded back in 1905, which is a member of the United Nations and have more than million members. On that date, we became part of the district 2481, where belongs all clubs from Serbia. Our club was 49th Rotary Club in Serbia and 12th Club in Belgrade.
